Oh autumn is so glorious and will soon be fleeting. Let's take advantage of fall's bounty by blanketing it in warm caramel, shall we?

We prefer our caramel apples salted.  Some helpful hints for using Annie B's Caramel Apple Kits (Now 20% off through 10/31/15, click here):

  1. Wash your apples very well, in warm water to make sure any wax is removed. Caramel should stick but if it seems to be sliding off, scrub your apples with a fine grain sandpaper before applying caramel. Really!
  2. In a microwave – cut the caramel into pieces and place in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 20 second increments, stirring after each. Melt until almost all of the caramel is melted. Remove from microwave and continue stirring until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Using a double boiler - If you don’t have a double boiler, use a bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Stir slowly until completely melted.
  4. On the stovetop – cut the caramel into pieces and place in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Stir slowly until completely melted and smooth.
  5. If caramel is too thick or starts to burn, add 1/4 cup of water, milk or cream.
  6. Pierce with sticks (included), dip & roll, and enjoy!
