Icings:
Buttercream – For a smooth, creamy,
satin look, choose this icing. The European buttercream used
by Annie B’s is a higher grade than standard American
bakery buttercream. It is made from 100% sweet cream butter.
This icing can be used with all the cake flavors.
Fondant – For a porcelain like appearance
choose this icing. This selection will be dictated by budget,
as fondant is used for the most expensive designs. If you
choose a wedding cake design that is created in fondant, a
special undercoating will be used with either marzipan or
buttercream. Remember: if you choose a cake with fondant icing,
your cake flavor must be one of Annie B’s six basic
flavors.
Marzipan
– Marzipan is a sweet almond dough that is rolled out
and draped onto the cake to create soft edges for the fondant.
If angular, crisp-looking edges are your style, a buttercream
layer will be used under the fondant.
Annie B’s has many different flavors and icings to
choose from. When making your flavor decision, keep in mind
the season as fresh berries might not be available for the
fresh berry shortcake in December. Also, the choice you make
for the icing will determine the final look of the wedding
cake.
